Leith Community Crops in Pots is an environmental charity that encourages and supports the people and organizations of Leith to grow food vegetables, and flowers for pollinating insects, in urban spaces, in order to improve health and wellbeing, community cohesion and the environment or, more simply, ‘to create a happy, healthy, leafy Leith’.
We are believers in the importance of responsible global citizenship and food sovereignty and have a great desire to tackle inequality and disadvantage.
As a component of the charity’s work, the Croft Carbon College was created to reconnect people with nature, combat isolation and provide education on sustainable lifestyles. It’s now a very popular center raising environmental awareness and providing accessible and engaging courses, workshops and events.
Income generated with this app will be reinvested to support the charity’s work, which includes delivering outdoor curriculum education and more specific work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children, our work in tackling climate change in Malawi and our project Nourishing Leith.
